All Ears

Not too long ago I decided that I didn't want to be simply a good friend, but that I wanted to be a good listener. I used to learn so much from the people I surrounded myself with. And I think I finally realized that it's not the people around me that have changed, it's me. I stopped listening.

  1. I think that it's amazing that you've realized that. I know that there are definitely times in my life where I have tuned out - but it's usually not until much later, or being called out on it, that I come to this realization. Wishing you the best of success with your goals, Yelle :)

  3. Interesting. Working on this at our house too. All of us. Phones don't help. ;)

    1. and while i think i can silently glide through instagram during a conversation, it's completely distracting and disrespectful. it's something i've changed in addition to how intently i listen. i guess it also goes to treating others how you want to be treated :)

  5. Such a great idea. I really find myself listening more and more the older I get. I typically don't talk as much as some of my other friends so it's refreshing to allow them to fill the silence that I can sometimes allow to exist.

    1. i have found that my last few careers have made me more talkative (in a good way, before i was so shy i couldn't hold small talk). but now, sometimes that's all it is - filler. i'd rather have a really full and complete silence over small talk. xo.

  6. i think a lot of people are guilty of this, though they never realize it! i try to be conscious of it, though i am sure i have my me me me moments too. xo

    1. i am most definitely trying to be more conscious of things like this. especially when i want to make people feel good around me, not listening is a sure way to show someone that they don't really matter, and that's the last thing i want to do. xo
