I have a terrible habit of crossing things off of my own wish list before others can do so for me. Perfect example, as long as I can remember I have wanted the gorgeous and classic glossy Hunter boots. This hurricane season, I treated myself to them. To persuade myself, I sited my great grades, the fact that who knows how much longer I may live in Florida, and the fact that, honestly, I devote my entire life to my lovely career (and my schooling to better my career). There ought to be some work // life balance, so I made it happen; I purchased some Hunter boots for myself.
A less costly vice that I recently gave into was a pair of lady DJ headphones. Ever since Natalie Portman rocked a pair of DJ headphones in Garden State, I have used the cushioned sound of wrap around headphones. My previous pair bit the dust a few years ago, and it took me this long to purchase another pair. Quite honestly, girls with tragus piercings have no business using the ear-bud-type headphones that Apple iPods popularized.
The only thing that is currently on my wishlist is the latest book by Sibella Court, titled Bowerbird. I have all of her books, including Et Cetera and Nomad; a sort of tradition that S will get me a Sibella Court book every Christmas. Her decor style is something of a dream, you must indulge. That tagline says it all, Creating beautiful interiors with the things you collect. That is the story of my life. Bowerbird comes out tomorrow, hint hint. Head on over to decor8blog, where Holly Becker got an advanced copy and shared some gorgeously shot sneak peeks. Holly goes on to define a Bowerbird saying, "a bowerbird is a bird native to Australia that builds its nest on the ground and collects everything it can to create a cozy home from shells to bones, stones to brightly colored objects, always found or stolen, always collecting and building."
Sibella Court has another book coming out called The Stylists Guide to Paris. I have her guide to NYC, but obviously, her guide to Paris would be more suited to this NYC-born/Paris-as-new-home fille.
Salut, Yelle

i'm the same way- when it comes to my wishlist i have very little self control haha. and judging by how hard you work with school and work, you totally deserve those! anyway, how else will you survive hurricane season, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteYes! Hurricane season was a perfect justification :)
DeleteAnd yes, I have no self control when I go home and still think about a particular item for weeks!
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog (I replied to your comment on my blog btw), I'm your newest follower too!
ReplyDeleteI love your hunter boots and I'm thinking of getting a pair for myself too! Rain boots are perfect for hurricane season. I always throw my whale rain boots in the back seat of my car, because you never know when it'll pour!
I too was thinking of keeping the boots in my car, because it is always in the middle of the day when it unexpectedly rains!
DeleteNice mention of Natalie Portman in Garden state. Love her and Love the movie :)
